Recently, Volvo Cars announced that it is building its next-generation XC90 SUV at the company's new manufacturing facility in Charleston, South Carolina. Volvo will also expand an office campus that neighbors the plant when it constructs a new office building meant to house up to 300 employees from the Research & Development, Purchasing and Quality departments, as well as the Southern region sales team.

In a press release, Håkan Samuelsson, President and Chief Executive, commented, "The continued expansion of our plant in South Carolina is another significant commitment to the US market. The plant in Charleston will serve both the US and international markets and forms a strong foundation for our future growth in the U.S. and globally."
